Food Quality
Highest Quality & Species-Appropriate, Natural Recipes

At Dog’s Heaven, everything starts with the quality of our ingredients and nutrients. Every component of our fresh meals for dogs and puppies consistently meets the highest standard: 100% human-grade quality – not only for the meat, but also for fruits, vegetables, herbs, and liquids such as bone broth or cucumber juice. This uncompromising selection forms the foundation for a species-appropriate, natural diet for your dog. Instead of synthetic additives, we rely on natural, functional ingredients such as sango coral, oyster shell, or brewer’s yeast. These naturally provide all essential minerals and vitamins for optimal nutrient supply.
Dog food in 100% human grade quality

100% Human-grade quality of all ingredients – a standard at Dog’s Heaven

All Dog’s Heaven fresh meals for dogs are made exclusively with human-grade ingredients and nutrients. This means that at the time of production, the quality of every raw material fully complies with the legal standards required for human food production. Since our production partner is a certified food-grade facility, only food ingredients may be stored and processed there. This exceptional quality is a matter of course for us at Dog’s Heaven and an integral part of our philosophy. Along with the unmistakable freshness and naturalness, you can immediately smell the superior quality of the ingredients when opening a Dog’s Heaven fresh meal. Learn more about the basics of nutrition for dogs.

WHAT DOES HUMAN-GRADE QUALITY MEAN?

It is important to us to clearly show our customers the difference between true human-grade food and the K3 material typically used in the pet food industry. Genuine, verifiable human-grade quality for pet food products was first introduced by the company Terra Canis. This marked the beginning of an entirely new quality standard in the pet food sector. This same standard is now being continued by Birgitta Ornau (founder of Terra Canis) at Dog’s Heaven dog food.

WHY TRUE HUMAN-GRADE QUALITY FOR DOGS?

Looking at the natural diet of our dogs’ ancestors, the wolves, we see that the carni-omnivore (carnivore and omnivore) wolf generally prefers to consume freshly hunted prey. If a hunt is unsuccessful, their nutritional physiology provides a certain flexibility, and as so-called “opportunistic feeders,” they can also make do with carrion, carcasses, or plant-based foods. However, their nutrient requirements are primarily met through the consumption of fresh prey. This means their diet is exceptionally fresh. Only the stomach and intestinal contents of their mostly herbivorous prey are partially pre-digested, but the fiber, prebiotics, and probiotics they contain are also nutritionally valuable components of a wolf’s diet.
Inspired by the absolutely natural and fresh nutritional concept of wolves, we use only ingredients of human-grade quality at the time of processing for our Dog’s Heaven fresh meals for dogs. This ensures maximum naturalness and nutrient content. Human-grade quality in dog nutrition means that the ingredients used meet the same standards as those required for human food production.

Dog food with fresh meat

High-quality protein as the core of all wet food meals

The most important aspect of a dog’s diet is high-quality proteins, meaning fresh meat and nutritious, wholesome organs. In all of our fresh meals, the proportion of muscle meat is the highest. In the varieties venison, deer, horse, and kangaroo, only muscle meat is used. The muscle meat is complemented by a smaller amount of heart and stomach, which are so-called muscular hollow organs that have a similar structure to muscle meat. Additionally, we use a small amount of liver in our Adult Beef fresh meal. Proteins, or amino acids, are essential for dogs and their bodily functions. They serve as building blocks for muscles, organs, skin, and coat, support the immune system, cell regeneration, and hormone production, and also play a role in energy supply. It is therefore important to understand that amino acids should enter a dog’s body as natively and naturally as possible to ensure all these essential processes can function properly.
For this reason, we have chosen gentle sous-vide cooking. In the typical high-heat, long-duration cooking of meat for dog food, the structures of amino acids can be partially destroyed. At temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius, the tertiary structures of some essential amino acids are damaged and become partially or entirely unavailable for absorption. These are known as “blocked amino acids” – chemically detectable but no longer bioavailable. The higher the temperature and the longer the cooking time, the greater the structural damage and the more the bioavailability is reduced. In our view, this helps explain why dogs produce such large amounts of stool when consuming dry food or canned wet food: partly due to the extremely high grain and/or starch content, which cannot be fully digested and absorbed, and partly because the protein bioavailability is significantly reduced or blocked by the intense heat. Dry food is sometimes produced at temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius (not cold-pressed), while long-shelf-life canned meals are cooked at 121 degrees Celsius or higher. With gentle sous-vide cooking (low-temperature water bath), our fresh food is heated for under an hour at only 90 degrees. Sous-vide is an optimal method to preserve the structure of proteins and amino acids, delivering the best from meat and organs to our dogs and supporting all bodily functions well into old age. Dog food with fresh veggies & fruit

Pure nature: fresh vegetables, salads & berries for a species-appropriate diet

In addition to plenty of fresh meat, fiber in the form of vegetables, fruits, salads, and berries is essential for dogs. In the wild, wolves and wild dogs also consume plant-based components such as grasses, roots, berries, and fallen fruit, partly directly and partly through the pre-digested plant matter in the stomachs of their prey.
With our wide variety of vegetables and fruits, as well as salads, berries, and herbs, we naturally replicate this evolutionary dietary concept. Fiber is very important for dogs. It supports digestion, helps maintain intestinal health, regulates digestive processes, and prevents constipation.
In addition, vegetables, fruits, berries, and salads provide a wealth of natural vitamins, minerals, trace elements, secondary plant compounds, and a small amount of carbohydrates. With the starch and natural sugars from fruits, dogs cover their relatively low carbohydrate requirements. Grains, pseudocereals, or extremely starchy legumes are unnecessary for dogs, not optimal, and not intended by nature. Due to their very short digestive tract, dogs have difficulty digesting and metabolizing large amounts of carbohydrates.
Our current portfolio includes orange & yellow carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, potatoes, celery, parsnip, cucumber, broccoli, zucchini, tomato, beetroot, celery stalks, celeriac, fennel, parsley root, spinach, chard, Lollo Rosso, butterhead lettuce, oakleaf lettuce, apple, pear, apricot, peach, mango, melon, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, lingonberries, and various herbs – both as ingredients in our fresh dog food and pure in the form of pureed vegetables for dogs.
Discover also our ADULT line, our food for adult dogs, for example our Adult Turkey for adult dogs, as well as PUPPY, our puppy food, for example Puppy Beef fresh food, and HYPO, our hypoallergenic dog food, for example our hypoallergenic Kangaroo dog food. We also offer a plant-based alternative with our vegan soy dog food. In addition to our fresh meals, we also offer nutritional supplements for dogs.

Dog food with fresh cucumber juice

Power from bone broth, cucumber juice & linseed oil

Freshly pressed cucumber juice is one of the best sources of vitamins and minerals. It contains vitamins A, C, K, and B vitamins, as well as potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and manganese. In addition, it is rich in highly beneficial secondary plant compounds such as flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties. Fresh cucumbers are also said to have anti-inflammatory effects. Our cucumber juice is pressed fresh every week in our production and goes directly into our wet food meals for dogs. Along with our 24-hour bone broth and sango coral, the fresh cucumber juice makes our food truly unique.
Our 24-hour cooked bone broth is a true treasure for dogs’ bones and joints. It naturally provides collagen, vitamin D, and glucosamine in very high amounts. Unlike powders, capsules, or tablets, the bone broth delivers these vital nutrients in their purest form, directly extracted from the bones and freshly incorporated into our meals for your dog’s bones. Collagen, vitamin D, and glucosamine could not be provided more naturally and purely. All three are known for their extremely positive effects on the growth and healthy maintenance of dogs’ joints and bones. Feeding bone broth is highly valuable for dogs and puppies at every stage of life!
Linseed oil is one of the highest-quality plant oils and is particularly rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids—especially omega-3 fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic acid. These are essential for a dog’s body, have anti-inflammatory properties, support the immune system, and promote healthy skin and coat. Omega-3 fatty acids also play a key role in cellular metabolism, the cardiovascular system, and brain function. Our cold-pressed, natural linseed oil is made from carefully cultivated flax seeds and is free from additives or chemical processing. It not only enhances the taste of our fresh meals but also naturally provides high-quality fats—for vitality, shine, and well-being. Unlike humans, dogs and puppies primarily derive their energy from fats rather than carbohydrates. Therefore, the correct balance of high-quality fats is crucial.

OYSTER SHELL

Oyster shell is an optimal and 100% natural source of calcium for dogs. It consists of 95% pure calcium carbonate. The calcium in oyster shell is released slowly and continuously, leading to a stable calcium level in the blood and a consistent supply to the body and bones. Oyster shells also contain collagen, magnesium carbonate, and glycoproteins.

BREWER’S YEAST

Brewer’s yeast is the best natural source of B vitamins, which play an important role in energy metabolism, skin, and nerve function in dogs. It provides vitamins B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), biotin, and folic acid. Additionally, brewer’s yeast contains minerals and trace elements such as magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, and potassium. B vitamins also play a crucial role in maintaining the intestinal mucosa, which is important for the digestive health of our dogs. In particular, niacin and vitamin B2 help maintain healthy mucous membranes.

SANGO CORAL

Sango coral is one of the best natural sources of all essential minerals and trace elements for dogs. It contains over 70 different micronutrients. This special coral is native to the waters around Okinawa, Japan. In the 1950s, Japanese researcher Nobuo Someya discovered that the residents of Okinawa were exceptionally healthy, with many living over 100 years. Civilization-related diseases such as cardiovascular problems and cancer were and remain almost unknown on this island. Someya investigated further and found that a key difference compared to other regions of Japan was the unique water of Okinawa. Analysis revealed that Sango coral enriches the water around Okinawa, making the drinking water of its residents exceptionally pure and rich in minerals and trace elements. Rainwater flows through the fossilized coral reef on which the island sits, absorbing the special ionized minerals and trace elements from the Sango coral while being naturally purified, and then fills the islanders’ drinking wells. Additionally, Sango coral in powdered form is still valued and consumed in Okinawa as a natural remedy. The minerals in Sango coral are entirely natural, alkaline, and highly bioavailable. Particularly noteworthy is the high content of calcium and magnesium in a perfect balance.
